Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain daily communication with department personnel, plant management and vendors. 

Responsibilities of the Purchasing Specialist:

  • Purchases goods and services, equipment, office supplies, cleaning supplies, and miscellaneous items for the plant.
  • Assign general ledger account numbers.  Determine tax liability on purchase requisitions.
  • Research inquiries and resolve problems regarding orders, receipts, and invoices.
  • Assists Receiving Coordinator with completed packing slips and delivery ticketsproviding to accounts payable for processing.
  • Prioritize and review all invoices related to plant purchases.
  • Research projects as requested by the Division Accountant.
  • Works with Accounts Payable Specialist to troubleshoot problems with material receipt or backorders.
  • Prepare purchasing reports as requested by management
  • Control petty cash

 

Skills/ Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 1 year prior manufacturing or warehouse experience.
  • 1 year prior administrative/coordinator experience.
  • Proficient in PC and Software, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must work independently and as a team.
