Job Summary
Golden Valley Charter Schools is seeking a dynamic and passionate Physical Education / Games Teacher to lead engaging movement experiences for students in grades 1–8. This is a unique opportunity for educators with a Physical Education credential who are excited to bring creativity, structure, and joy to movement-based learning.
Our program blends physical education best practices with a Waldorf-inspired approach, emphasizing cooperation, coordination, and student development through games, movement, and outdoor activity. Primary Responsibilities
-Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education and games lessons
-Foster teamwork, cooperation, and positive sportsmanship
-Support students’ physical development, coordination, and overall well-being
-Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment indoors and outdoors
-Adapt instruction to support diverse learners, including students with IEPs and 504 plans
-Assess student progress and contribute to report cards
-Collaborate with colleagues and communicate with families
-Support school festivals, events, and community activities
-Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives
Skills & Qualifications
-Valid California Single Subject Physical Education Credential required
-Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
-Ability to lead engaging, structured, and developmentally appropriate movement activities
-Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
-Excellent communication and collaboration skills
-Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all students
-Interest in or openness to Waldorf or whole-child education

Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Single Subject Physical Education Credential required. As a Public Waldorf School we do not require a Waldorf Teaching Certificate but do want our candidates to have knowledge of and a respect for the Pedagogy. We do ask that our teachers work towards obtaining the Waldorf Teaching Certificate and our Educational Foundation helps cover the cost for Teachers in the training program.
Salary Info
Starting at $58,933.00 with higher compensation depending on experience
