DBA Junior Oracle & SQL Database – Secret
Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a Junior Oracle & SQL Database. The Junior Oracle & SQL Server Database Administrator supports day‑to‑day monitoring, maintenance, and basic administration of Oracle 19c/12c and SQL Server databases across on‑premises and Azure environments. This role contributes to reliable database operations while developing core skills in performance troubleshooting, cloud concepts, and modernization initiatives. Location: Remote
Responsibilities:
- Assist in administering Oracle 19c/12c and SQL Server databases, including schemas, users, and configurations.
- Monitor database performance, scheduled jobs, storage usage, and system alerts; escalate issues appropriately.
- Support routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, instance checks, patching, and security updates.
- Help troubleshoot database errors, connectivity issues, and performance slowdowns under senior DBA guidance.
- Participate in deployments, schema changes, and script execution for application and data updates.
- Coordinate with ETL, reporting, and application teams to maintain consistent and accurate data operations.
- Begin using Azure tools for monitoring, logging, and basic automation of database resources.
Minimum Requirements:
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts, with hands‑on exposure to either Oracle or SQL Server.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Oracle SQL Developer, or similar tools.
- Basic understanding of backup/restore processes, indexing concepts, and query plan fundamentals.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud concepts (Azure preferred) with interest in learning cloud database operations.
- Awareness of secure database practices and 8140 Cyber Security Compliance requirements (training available).
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow established operational procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) or automation tools.
- Experience with ETL or reporting workflows (academic, internship, or project‑based experience acceptable).
- Familiarity with CI/CD or Azure DevOps pipelines is helpful but not required.
- Prior Army Contractor experience
- Prior experience supporting Azure environment
