About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Human Resources (HR) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
• Reporting to the HR Projects and Training Coordinator, the Program Support Specialist Senior provides advanced administrative and program support for the Department’s online performance management system.
• Performing specialized clerical tasks, data entry, documentation tracking, and records management to ensure timely completion of performance management requirements.
• Assisting supervisors and employees with routine system questions, maintains accurate logs and records, monitors workflow status, and prepares standard reports to support HR operations.
• Ensuring work is completed using established procedures, policies, and guidelines, with responsibility for independently prioritizing assignments and resolving routine issues.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Of office practices, recordkeeping, and administrative procedures.
• Of basic understanding of HR documentation requirements and performance review processes.
• Of and familiarity with data entry practices and maintaining secure/confidential records.
Skill:
•In using Microsoft Office products, including Excel for sorting, filtering, and lookups.
• In organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines.
• In customer service and communicating clearly in writing and verbally.
• In operating and learning office software systems.
• In analyzing workflow status to anticipate and prevent delays.
• In SharePoint/Teams (understanding of shared documents and OneDrive) reminders/routing, technical troubleshooting (workflow errors, routing, and access issues).
Ability:
• To review documents for completeness and accuracy.
• To follow established procedures and apply policy guidance to administrative tasks.
• To troubleshoot routine issues and escalate more complex problems.
• To work independently on recurring tasks while supporting team needs.
• To interpret data from system reports and identify discrepancies.
• To recognize process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
• To maintain accuracy and confidentiality with sensitive personnel data.
• To effectively utilize technology, operate a computer, and quickly learn new software programs.
• To learn new systems quickly and adapt to process changes.
• To build rapport across HR and operational units.
• To work effectively through peak times of high-volume workloads.
• Experience performing advanced administrative support, records management, or office coordination duties.
• Experience providing customer service in an office environment.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Additional Considerations
• Experience supporting HR or other specialized administrative programs preferred.
• Experience using system reports or tracking tools to evaluate data accuracy, identify workflow issues, or support program‑level decision‑making is preferred.
