Overview

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. 


Responsibilities

  • Reviews schedule for the day, assembling necessary charts and equipment to ensure smooth patient flow through the office.
  • Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers; responds to routine inquiries from family and patients on medical instructions, prescriptions; contacts patients by telephone as required to arrange and confirm appointments.
  • Orients patient to care setting and obtains information that will aid in evaluating patient's current state of health.
  • Prepares patient for medical examination and/or interview (e.g., conducts to examining room, provides proper gown); records patient's vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, temperature; takes appropriate anthropometric measurements.
  • Collects specimens from patients and performs procedures in accordance with protocols (e.g., EKGs, venipuncture; taking urine samples); fills out lab forms and labels blood tubes.
  • Fills out requests for lab tests and arranges for specimens to be picked up; contacts laboratories for results and reports to physician.
  • Assists in updating and maintaining complete patient records (e.g., assures that test results are entered).
  • Makes sure that examining rooms and procedures are fully equipped and stocked each day; cleans rooms as appropriate between procedures; disposes of trash, needles and sharp items, etc. in appropriate containers
  • Makes sure that appropriate equipment is available for procedures and properly set up. Reports equipment problems to appropriate individual or department
  • Assists physician with procedures as appropriate (e.g., sets up area for appropriate procedure, brings charts to examining room, maintains cast removal equipment)
  • Assists patient/family with referrals, appointments as necessary by contacting appropriate agency or physician and/or arranging appointments
  • Maintains adequate inventory of equipment and medical and office supplies, reordering as necessary
  • Patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards 

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; 1-2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred. Certification as a Medical Assistant required, phlebotomy Required.  Must pass customer service test.  EMR Systems and Registration strongly preferred. Typing: 25 wpm (tested) Knowledge of medical terminology.   Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) Good oral and written communication skills

Good interpersonal skills. Bilingual preferred.

 

 


Pay Range

USD $28.34 - USD $28.92 /Hr.
