Job Description

SUMMARY: The Senior Supply Chain Leader will be a part of a procurement organization at VSE focused on a major program implementation, sustainment, and improvement for long term success. This role will be responsible for and directly involved with a wide variety of procurement activities for the organization, along with extensive associated KPI report development and tracking. This leader will help develop and execute a Supply Chain strategy for VSE Distribution focused on supporting a major OEM partnership, financial targets, and World Class Customer Performance expectations. The role will include leading complex OEM and Supplier Partner contract and ad hoc negotiations with highly technical business requirements. This leader will effectively liaison with their cross functional counterparts to help improve supply chain health in the overall distribution business.



 



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:




  • Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to drive competitive advantage, cost savings, and consistent results across all spend categories.

  • Lead and Conduct High Visibility and Complex competitive negotiation process and events.

  • Deploy best-in-class procurement processes, systems, and tools.

  • Review Product line-based targets and drive annual savings for the business.

  • Partner with business development, Sales, Suppliers, and/or customers to develop global (and regional) forecasting & strategic initiatives.

  • Initiating / develop / lead significant enhancement efforts to drive efficiencies and margin improvement, i.e., implementing a world-class forecasting tool.

  • Generate business cases for product extensions and product enhancements.

  • Know and support all applicable policies and procedures through the Quality Management System

  • Assist in determining proper procurement methods and recommending alternate methods when appropriate.

  • Implement an effective communications management strategy to executive leadership with specific emphasis on business objectives delivery, efficient resource deployment, effective risk, and issue management.

  • Review and analyze scope of work and vendor requirements.

  • Research products as needed via specifications and drawings, interface with engineering and quality as needed.

  • Ensure that all legal requirements, insurance requirements, purchasing and inventory controls are maintained.

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement processes.

  • Draft contracts ensuring all legal requirements are in compliance.

  • Track and report key functional metrics and identify gaps internally and in the market.

  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.

  • Coordinate and perform professional-level administrative work.

  • Supplier relationships and sourcing opportunities including RFPs, negotiation, etc.

  • Partner with other business units and other cross functional teams on overall supply chain health of the organization.

  • Other duties as assigned.
