Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for assisting a fun and safe summer camp experience for children 10–14 years old while exploring Tampa Bay.


Essential Position Functions

  • Maintains camper safety
  • Responsible for assisting with activities that correspond to the camp theme
  • Mentoring campers and teen volunteers
  • Assist with group and individual camper behavior
  • Drive a 15 passenger van
  • Assists with upkeep and maintenance of travel camp related items
  • Assists with light office work and other duties as assigned


Education Requirements and Technical Skills

  • Working towards a degree in biology, environmental science, marine science, outdoor education or elementary education
  • Camp or Informal education experience (1 year of experience)
  • Customer service skills preferred
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred
  • Valid Driver's license with clear driving record required
  • Lifeguarding certification preferred

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity (spending 6 hours outside)
  • Standing (6 hours per day)
  • Walking (4 hours per day)
  • Bending/Stooping – Occasionally
  • Reaching about shoulders – Occasionally
  • Carrying (up to 30 lbs.) – Occasionally
  • Lifting (up to 30 lbs.) – Occasionally
  • Using hands for repetitive movements
  • Exposure to dust, fumes and gases
  • Typing on a computer keyboard
  • Viewing a computer screen for short periods
  • Coping with demands (stresses that are associated with the job and/or the work environment) so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
  • More than normal talking


CPR and First Aid training (if needed): TBD


Training

Online Training must be completed prior to May 16, 2026.

April 15, 2026 – Paperwork Open House Time: 5:30pm-6:30pm

May 16, 2026 – All Staff training: 9am–4pm

May 23, 2026 – Continued training: 9am–4pm

This position requires a level II background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
