Job Description

Role Summary

The Aircraft Composite Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of composite aircraft structures in accordance with FAA regulations and Part 121 air carrier requirements. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of the airline’s fleet by performing high-quality composite repairs that meet approved data, manufacturer specifications, and company maintenance programs.

 

Compensation Starting at $34.00 p/hr + DOE
Schedule Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as required by operational needs.

Key Duties

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of composite aircraft structures, including but not limited to flight controls, radomes, fairings, nacelles, interior panels, and primary/secondary composite structures.
  • Interpret and comply with approved technical data, including Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Engineering Orders (EO), FAA regulations, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Fabricate composite repairs using materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, honeycomb cores, and adhesives.
  • Perform vacuum bagging, curing, lay-ups, sanding, finishing, and nondestructive preparation techniques.
  • Accurately document maintenance actions in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance Control, and other Maintenance personnel as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Support aircraft on-wing and off-wing maintenance, line maintenance, heavy maintenance, and AOG recovery as needed. Travel may be required for maintenance recovery or special projects.
  • Maintain company-required qualifications and recurrent training.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate required.
  • Must be able to pass a Drug Test and Airport Background Check.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as required by operational needs.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of hands-on aircraft composite repair experience in a Part 121, Part 145, or military aviation environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations, Part 121 maintenance requirements, and airworthiness standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and repair specifications.
  • Composite repair training from an FAA-approved or OEM-recognized program preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, safety -critical environment
  • Proficient in computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
