Job Description

Summary: 

The E&I Technician will be responsible for predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance, application, start-up, commissioning of Certarus’ instrumentation and controls equipment.  In this position one will act as a subject matter professional of practical and theoretical aspects on instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment, while supporting safe operation and best practices. This position reports directly to the Compression Manager. 

 

Schedule: 

  • This position requires out of town stay. 
  • On call may be required to support operations. 
  • Dayshift; 8 days on/6 days off.  

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to troubleshoot 3 phase-480V systems. 
  • Conduct predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance on all instrumentation and controls equipment. 
  • Actively support Operational Excellence and Asset Management and Reliability programs. 
  • Be an active participant in routine and shutdown/turnaround facility maintenance. 
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and optimize plant process control equipment such as control valves, transmitters, gas flow meters. 
  • Organize and/or conduct daily instrumentation activities. 
  • Be an active participant in Certarus MOC process. 
  • Order parts create work orders, and capture equipment history in company CMMS. 
  • Participate in Environment, Health and Safety programs. 
  • Work with a variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force and chemical composition. 
  • Consult manufacturers’ manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures. 
  • Use pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices to inspect and test instrument and system operation, diagnose faults and tubing. 
  • Diagnose and repair PLC issues and malfunctions. 

                           

                          Requirements: 

                          • Minimum of 4-5 years of electrical or instrumentation experience. 
                          • Must have knowledge and the ability to read and interpret all information found within electrical, mechanical blueprints and diagrams. 
                          • Proficiency with a variety of I/E hand tools meters, instrument calibration equipment etc. 
                          • Ability to trouble shoot complex electrical control systems and to maintain instrumentation systems. 
                          • Journeyman instrumentation or electrician certification is an asset. 
                          • Clean driving record with the ability to travel extensively within Alberta (60 – 80%.)
