The Buffet Attendant must deliver fast, polite, and highly attentive service to every guest, always striving to surpass their expectations. Specific obligations can vary between locations based on client demands and daily operational needs.
This position will support daily food service operations at the Alaska Airlines Lounge located inside the Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage, AK. Full-time, part-time and on-call positions available.
- Welcome and seats guests.
- Provides menus or explains the buffet layout and options to guests.
- Serves plated meals to tables or assists guests at the buffet line following proper etiquette.
- Recommends beverages and answers questions regarding food preparation and buffet ingredients.
- Records or memorizes drink and a la carte orders.
- Submits orders to the kitchen and communicates buffet replenishment needs.
- Sanitizes work areas, clears used plates from tables, and resets dining and buffet stations.
- May operate buffet carving stations for meat, fish, or poultry, or prepare specialty desserts.
- Transport and organize dining and buffet supplies/equipment.
- Help prep food items and ensure proper food storage.
- May help wash dishes, glassware, silverware, and buffet chafing gear.
- Assists with restocking general food inventory and replenishing buffet lines.
- Completes all required foodborne illness and allergy training.
- Promptly reports any workplace accidents or injuries.
- Adheres to all company risk management and safety protocols.
- Joins hazard assessments, ongoing safety training, and safety meetings. Completes other assigned duties and responsibilities as required.
- Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Ability to pass SIDA Badge test, which includes an assessment of knowledge related to airport security protocols, access control procedures, and safety regulations in secure and restricted areas.
- Ability to obtain an Alaska AOA Badge. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Successfully pass an FBI fingerprint-based background check.
- Complete and pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA).
- Have no outstanding warrants or be able to provide documentation of their resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 months of customer service or relevant experience.
