General Laundry Worker

As a BYU Laundry worker, you can expect to play an important role in keeping campus services running smoothly by assisting with the cleaning, sorting, folding, and delivery of laundry items for various departments. Daily tasks often include operating industrial washers and dryers, pressing or folding uniforms and linens, and ensuring that all items are handled efficiently and with care. Workers also help maintain a clean and organized workspace, monitor machines, and occasionally assist with customer service when students, staff, or faculty pick up or drop off laundry. It’s a team-oriented job that provides hands-on experience, develops time-management skills, and gives student employees flexible hours that fit around classes.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Operate industrial washers, dryers, and pressing equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Sort, clean, fold, and package laundry items such as uniforms, linens, and other textiles.

  • Ensure quality control by checking items for stains, damage, or needed re-cleaning.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Assist with labeling and organizing laundry for delivery or pickup.

  • Work as part of a team to meet daily production goals and deadlines.

  • Provide basic customer service for students, faculty, and staff dropping off or picking up laundry.

  • Monitor machines and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.

  • Follow safety and hygiene protocols while handling laundry.
