Summary:
The primary purpose of this role is to serve as a Business Central (BC) consultant responsible for driving system changes, enhancements, and continuous improvements within the ERP platform supporting Grundfos Water Treatment Americas. The consultant will take ownership of the Business Central application, ensuring system stability, alignment with business requirements, and full transparency of ongoing initiatives handled by external suppliers.
In addition, the role acts as a coordinator—maintaining a clear functional overview of the solution landscape, prioritizing incoming requests, collaborating closely with business stakeholders, and ensuring that all changes adhere to Grundfos IT governance standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting digital growth, harmonization efforts, and process optimization across the American business units.
The consultant will also contribute to the ongoing development of a global Application Solution organization, working closely with colleagues across the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Central Consulting & System Enhancements (70%):
- Configure, customize, and enhance Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central based on business needs.
- Analyze requirements, translate them into functional/technical specifications, and ensure high‑quality implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement activities and support system optimization across business processes.
- Ensure solution design complies with global Grundfos IT architecture guidelines.
- Ensure continued documentation of solutions. Knowledge transfer to peers, end-users, and stakeholders.
Coordination & Vendor Management (20%)
- Act as the primary coordinator between business stakeholders and external BC support vendors.
- Maintain an overview of all ongoing tasks, ensuring clarity in scope, deadlines, and responsibilities.
- Evaluate vendor deliverables and ensure solutions meet quality standards and business expectations.
Support, Communication & Stakeholder Interaction (10%)
- Handle selected 2nd‑level support requests related to BC system functionality.
- Communicate proactively with the business, providing transparency, expectation management, and solution recommendations.
- Support change management activities, including training, documentation, and adoption.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Stable and Reliable BC Platform: Ensures the ERP platform supports day‑to‑day operations with minimal disruption.
- High Stakeholder Satisfaction: Provides clear communication, timely delivery, and trusted guidance to the business.
- Effective Coordination with Vendors: Maintains overview and quality control of all BC-related tasks and enhancements.
- Strong Requirement Translation: Converts business needs into high‑quality system solutions with measurable value.
- Compliance with IT Standards: Ensures adherence to Grundfos IT processes, security, and governance policies.
- Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Water Treatment Americas safety policies and procedures.
- Complies with Quality Management Systems in accordance with Water Treatment Americas internal quality standards.
- Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Water Treatment Americas Delegation of Authority.

POSTING, REPORTING, AND WORK RELATIONS:
- The position reports directly to the IT Water Treatment Application Solutions Manager.
- The consultant will work as part of a global Grundfos IT team, collaborating frequently with colleagues in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
- Primary stakeholders include operations, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, customer service, and commercial teams across the U.S. and Canada.
- The role interacts closely with external BC service providers and internal IT functions to ensure coordinated delivery and alignment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Dynamics NAV) in a consulting or application specialist capacity.
- Strong proficiency in BC configuration, customization, and core functional areas, such as Finance, Sales, Purchasing, Warehousing, or Manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating external vendors or support partners, ensuring quality deliverables and clear communication.
- Extension Development using Microsoft AL Language.
- Solid understanding of application lifecycle management, IT security principles, and change‑management processes (e.g., version control, structured deployment workflows).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, business‑friendly language.
- Proven ability to take ownership, work independently, and drive tasks and solutions end‑to‑end in a fast‑moving environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods; required to stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as a computer, copier, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 15 lbs. Complex thinking and analysis required with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
Work Environment:
Generally, works in office environment, however, may be required to visit client sites and be exposed to indoor or outdoor industry specific elements. The majority of work will be performed during standard business hours aligned with the America East Coast time zone. The position may be based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA) or Brockville, Ontario (Canada), with an expectation of 2–3 days per week onsite. Collaboration with European colleagues may occasionally require flexibility for early‑morning meetings. Responsibilities will include both planned activities and ad hoc tasks, communicated through established IT and business channels. Travel requirements are limited and will be no more than 3 weeks per year.
