JOB OVERVIEW

As the Welding Production Coordinator, you will oversee the workflow, quality, and efficiency of welding operations. Your responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, coordinating material preparation, and ensuring welders have the information and resources needed to complete projects accurately and on schedule. Strong knowledge of GMAW and FCAW processes, as well as grinding, drilling, cutting, and plasma metal removal techniques is essential to guide and support the team. Attention to detail is critical, as you will be responsible for monitoring weld quality and ensuring all finished products meet safety and structural standards. This role also requires the ability to work around heavy machinery, maintain a safe work environment, and stay on your feet for extended periods while supporting production activities.

 

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Ensure high-quality production with minimal rework, meeting efficiency and production goals.
  • Assist and guide other fabricators to ensure consistent quality and teamwork skills.
  • Fit, tack, and weld fabrications to completion, verifying dimensions for accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and promote a safe work environment.
  • Identify issues, propose solutions, and present data-driven recommendations.
  • Foster teamwork, provide support, and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Operate welding equipment and machinery safely and effectively, adhering to established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to address any issues or concerns related to welding processes or product quality.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality assurance, and workplace conduct.
  • Train and mentor production welders to improve technical skills, weld quality, and shop‑floor performance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: high school diploma or equivalent with additional technical certification or vocational training in welding preferred.
  • Experience: proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • Strong understanding of welding principles, metallurgy, and material properties, with the ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment and tools, including welding machines, torches, grinders, and measuring instruments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity, with the ability to produce precise and consistent welds on a variety of metal materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols and procedures.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Fabrication experience that includes knowledge of layout, fabrication and welding
  • Prior exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, along with a keen sense of attention to detail
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Experience with welding carbon steel.
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding equipment and perform basic repairs as needed.
