Job Description

Regional Finance Director

The Carmelite System is a multi-state not-for-profit senior living organization sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged & Infirm.  The Carmelite Sisters operate a network of 14 skilled nursing facilities throughout the United States.

We are seeking to hire a Regional Finance Director.

  • This is a fully remote position.
  • $125K to $165K annually based on skills and experience.

Regional Finance Director Introduction:  The Regional Finance Director provides strategic and operational leadership across multiple senior living facilities, including skilled nursing, assisted/independent living and memory care. Partnering closely with executive & regional leadership, administrators, clinical leaders, and corporate finance this role ensures financial sustainability and regulatory compliance by supporting reporting, reimbursement optimization, labor management, and leading strategic initiatives.

Regional Finance Director Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • MBA, CPA, or healthcare finance certification preferred.
  • 8 – 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in senior living, post-acute, or healthcare environments.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage.
  • Proven experience supporting multi-site healthcare operations.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.

Regional Finance Director Job Summary: 

  • Prepare, analyze, and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and strategic insights for Board Meetings.
  • Translate complex financial and reimbursement data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Lead facility Finance Department meetings.
  • Conduct Financial Variance Analysis by facility during end-of-month accounting close, including detailed P&L reviews, census-driven performance analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Oversee Monthly Accounts Payable accruals and approvals by facility.
  • Lead annual budget development.
  • Develop rolling forecasts incorporating census, acuity, labor mix, and reimbursement assumptions.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast.
  • Optimize reimbursement across MA (Medicare Advantage), MC (Medicare), and MCD (Medicaid) programs.
  • Partner with clinical, MDS, billing, and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate & timely billing, and minimized denials.
  • Analyze payer mix, rate changes, and regulatory impacts on facility performance.
  • Perform detailed Labor Analysis by facility.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operations leaders to align staffing models.
  • Lead and support special projects such as grant applications, service line expansions, acquisitions, or operational turnarounds.
