Overview
Shoot Straight is looking for a Web Developer to support and improve our software systems and business processes. This is a varied role combining software development with operational and administrative responsibilities. Software development is a core component to this position, though role responsibilities may shift based on the needs of the business and seasonal demands. This role is full-time and onsite.
What You’ll Do:
Web and Software Development:
● Develop, maintain, and improve e-commerce websites and business applications
● Build and modify web pages using CMS platforms and web technologies
● Contribute to the development of internal tools and processes
● Troubleshoot and debug issues across various applications and tech stacks
E-Commerce and Operational Support
● Create and manage product listings across multiple sales channels
● Update website content, sales and promotions, and inventory data
● Assist with administrative processes and customer support

Candidates should have excellent problem solving skills and a willingness to explore new, creative ideas. A great applicant will have high personal initiative, attention to detail, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the willingness to work on multiple different projects at once.
Required Qualifications:
● Hands-on experience (academic or professional) developing software applications
● Working knowledge of:
○ Web hosting and DNS
○ Client-server communication protocols
○ Modern web application architecture (front-end, back-end, APIs)
○ Version control with Git
● Basic proficiency with Linux and command line usage
● Programming experience with any/all of the following or similar:
○ Compiled languages (C#, Go)
○ JavaScript frameworks (React, Svelte, Angular)
○ Scripting languages (PHP, Python)
Preferred Qualifications:
● Knowledge of or interest in firearms or the firearms industry
● Familiarity with business operations and process improvement strategies
● Experience managing relational DBMSs such as MySQL/MariaDB
● Experience implementing Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment strategies
● Experience with or willingness to learn:
○ Modern e-commerce systems (BigCommerce, Shopify and WooCommerce)
○ Best practices in UI/UX, security, responsive design, and software development
○ Best practices in search engine optimization
