Position Location

This permaent full-time position is located at the Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, Texas. 


Job Overview

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

  • Replace electrical receptacles, wiring, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paint structures and equipment.
  • Replace or repair concrete floors, steps and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken windowpanes.
  • Perform maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Determines materials needed for repair work and prepares requisition.
  • Responsible for timely reporting of accidents, injuries, and hazardous situations.
  • Use portable radios to communicate with supervisors and service call desk and airfield management.
  • Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Class C Texas driver's license.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Three-year similar experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Knowledge of concrete and asphalt.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand and have working knowledge of hazardous, safety, and environmental warnings.
  • General knowledge of all maintenance and construction trades.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds, and walkways; be able to complete assigned tasks in high or confined spaces.

Preferred:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Technical or trade school completion.
