Job Description










Position Purpose 



The World Language Teacher is responsible for preparing curriculum and teaching world languages to middle and upper school students. 




 













Essential Functions 





  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions using a student-centered learning approach. 







  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts, and project instructions, aligning with the given standards grade level. 







  • Use myLiberty LMS, Brightspace and Google Drive platforms daily. 







  • Serve as a mentor to students in our Mentoring Program. 







  • Write student recommendation letters as requested. 







  • Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure effective learning. 







  • Maintain student attendance, grades, and other required records. 







  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction. 







  • Maintain Rubicon Atlas specific to course content. 







  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations. 







  • Maintain contact with students and parents with regular communication. 







  • Maintain expertise in subject matter through the completion of the Christian Philosophy of Education and Liberty Christian School’s professional development program. 







  • Implement student-centered teaching pedagogy, including the opportunities for student voice and choice in the classroom. 







  • Collaborate with colleagues in grades just above and below to maintain vertical alignment. 







  • Create lesson plans and assessments aligned with the ACTFL standards along with integrating biblical content. 







  • Always promote and nurture a Christ-centered culture within the classroom and school-wide. 







  • Attend the department, grade level, and faculty meetings. 







  • Use information from various sources to make instructional decisions, including MAP Growth data. 







  • Be available for weekly scheduled tutoring times. 







  • Communicate with students and parents as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. 







  • Support extra-curricular activities: TAPPS Academics world language competition as well as world language clubs. 







  • Fulfill campus responsibilities as assigned. Examples include, but are not limited to, testing center duty, lunchroom duty, detention duty, etc. 







  • Utilize a blended learning approach based on ACTFL’s standards and conduct classes primarily in target language. 







  • Incorporate cultural connections and comparisons within thematic units to spark student interest and encouragement. 







  • Provide students with level-appropriate world language comprehensible input; structure activities and tasks where learners constantly indicate comprehension. 







  • Maintain language fluency through professional development. 







  • Develop methods for improvement and /or reinforcing classroom goals. 







  • Provide annual budgeting suggestions. 







  • Follow LCS Emergency Preparedness procedures and monitor students in announced or unannounced drills. 







  • Adhere to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and trainings.

Qualifications 





  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate work in subject matter preferred. 







  • Teacher Certification via Association of Christian Schools International completed within the first year. 







  • State teacher certification required. 







  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Google. 







  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 







  • Leadership and facilitative skills. 







  • Christian role model. 






 













Physical Requirements and Work Environment  





  • Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. 







  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.  







  • Regularly use close and distance vision.  







  • May stand for extended periods of time.  







  • Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment.  







  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. 







  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). 







  • Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. 







  • Ability to remain productive and maintain control under stress.  







  • Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student experience. 







  • Full-time position, ten-month position August – May.
