Job Summary
The Preschool Director/Teacher leads the daily operations and instructional program of a preschool, combining classroom teaching with administrative oversight. This role supervises staff, implements developmentally appropriate curriculum, and ensures full compliance with California licensing and safety regulations. Director/Teacher is also responsible for supporting the implementation of IEP and 504 plan goals and maintaining accurate data collection to monitor student progress. Working closely with families, district leadership, and special education staff, the Director fosters an inclusive, supportive environment that meets the diverse needs of all learners. The position emphasizes collaboration, program quality, and the overall growth and well-being of young children.
Requirements / Qualifications
Documentation of required (per Title 22, Section 101215.1) qualifications:
One of the following:
1. 12 postsecondary semester units in ECE/CD or related field (including 3 units in administration/staff relations) and 4 years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center, or
2. An AA or higher in ECE/CD (including 3 units in administration) and 2 years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center, or
3. A valid Children’s Center Supervision Permit issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing
Licenses & Other Requirements:
*Must be at least 18 years of age
*Valid Child Development Teacher Permit
The following may be completed upon acceptance of a contingent job offer but must be completed prior to employment commencing:
*Current First Aid and Pediatric CPR Certification
*Completion of 16 hours of health and safety training (pursuant to Health & Safety Code §1596.866), including:
*Pediatric CPR and First Aid
*Preventive Health Practices
*Mandated Reporter Training
*Health screening, TB clearance, and DOJ/FBI background clearance
