Position Summary:
The Peer Leader supports daily programming and engagement at the Teen Center while participating in a structured workforce development experience. Peer Leaders serve as positive role models and mentors to teens, assist with programming, and help foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment. In addition to program support, this role emphasizes skill-building in professionalism, leadership, communication, and career exploration, particularly for those interested in youth development, education, public health, or social services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of educational, recreational, and community-based teen programs
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with teens and serve as a consistent role model
  • Support social-emotional learning and positive peer interactions
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
  • Assist staff with supervision and daily Teen Center operations
  • Participate in ongoing training, feedback, and skill-building opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in college, working toward a degree in Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a related field
  • Interest in youth development, education, nonprofit, or community-based work
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse youth populations
  • Reliable, responsible, and motivated to grow professionally

Hours & Schedule:

  • Part-time position, approximately 12–16 hours per week during the school year
  • Primarily afternoon and evening hours, including:
    • Monday–Thursday: 3:00–6:00/7:00 PM
    • Friday: 1:00–5:00 PM
  • Hours may  increase during the summer months based on program needs

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be between the age of 15 and 19 years old.
