Job Description:

Summary

Illinois Central College is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach multimedia, and/or new media courses with a focus in video and audio production, special effects, animation, and motion graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud products. All applicants must provide a portfolio of their work samples to be considered for the role.

Adjunct Faculty are primarily responsible for instructing assigned courses meeting classroom standards. The Adjunct Faculty must follow institutional syllabi. Additionally, Adjunct Faculty will be required to maintain office hours to best ensure student success. Adjunct Faculty teach on a part time basis up to 12 contact hours per semester.

Essential Functions

1. Instruct and coordinate courses including lecture and/or lab-based classes ensuring all necessary materials and tools are readily available and that safety standards are met, when appropriate.

2. Prepares and updates course syllabi and instructional materials, coordinates lessons, aligns learning activities and assessments to promote student success, for courses assigned to teach.

3. Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.

4. Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and college staff to coordinate course offerings for the multimedia and graphic design concentration, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.

5. Maintain office hours and availability.

6. Collaborate with faculty and staff to continuously improve and adapt the student experience to meet the needs of the student, our institution, and our community.

7. Supports college-wide initiatives and actively participates in organizational meetings.

8. Experience serving the needs of a diverse student population.

9. Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

1. Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, new/emerging creative technologies, media arts, or new media design plus five years of proven professional experience (work history and portfolio).

2. Five years of professional experience (not including time in college) using Adobe Creative Cloud. Specifically, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and Audition.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree in multimedia, new/emerging creative technologies, media arts, or new media design.

2. Academic teaching experience in discipline.

3. Community college experience.
