Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Teach music and choral classes to grades K-6
Implement a rigorous and balanced standards-based music curriculum including knowledge of vocal development
Employ pedagogical methods that motivate students to purse instrumental study
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Demonstrate flexibility and compassion, while maintaining high expectations for student achievement
Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
Employ instructional methods that motivate students to continue to pursue study in the music community
Collaborate with school faculty to develop interdisciplinary curriculum
Organize and participate in school level music performances
Contribute to departmental and school wide curriculum projects and other initiatives
Steward the careful use of supplies, equipment, and teaching resources
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Assist w/ Arrival and Dismissal
Qualifications
Must hold a bachelor’s degree
Must meet federal requirements and highly qualified status for Massachusetts charter school educators
Two or more years of classroom teaching experience in urban setting preferred
Must be able to play piano
Must be proficient in teaching piano to students on different levels
Must be able to play piano in the different genres of music (i.e. classical, contemporary, choral, gospel, jazz, etc.)
Preferred
Master’s degree in preferred
General Music certification K-6
Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
