    Teacher of Applied Technology (9-12)

    Graphic Arts

     

    We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Graphic Arts teacher to lead our high school students through a comprehensive design program. The candidate will teach everything from the basics of design and typography (Graphic Arts I) to advanced digital production, including motion graphics and 3D design (Graphic Arts II).

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach Design Foundations: Instruct students in color theory, layout, branding, and typography.
    • Hands-on Production: Lead projects in traditional and digital formats, such as silk screening, T-shirt design, package prototyping, and calligraphy.
    • Digital Instruction: Guide students in industry-standard software and hardware, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Procreate (iPad).
    • Career Preparation: Help students build professional portfolios for college admissions and career entry.
    • Modern Media: Introduce students to emerging trends like App Design and Motion Graphics.

     

    Requirements:

    • Certification: Valid NJ Instructional Certificate (Teacher of Art, Industrial Arts, or Technology).
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Apple iPadOS (Procreate).
    • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with NJ Student Learning Standards for Career & Technical Education and Visual Arts.
    • Collaboration: Ability to work with department colleagues to maintain a cohesive Applied Technology program.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual (a plus).
    • Knowledge of the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching.

     

    Effective:   2026-2027 School Year

     

    Salary:  

    As per salary guide based on experience and earned degree level
    Minimum $67,968 - maximum $99,181

    In addition to the base salary, eligible employees receive a comprehensive benefits package: 
    including medical/vision, prescription and dental insurance, and paid time off.   Will be entered into the appropriate NJ Pension Program.
