Due to growth, Satterfield and Pontikes is looking to add a Scheduling Manager to the team! The Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing all scheduling functions at the business unit level, ensuring that project schedules across the portfolio are developed, maintained, and analyzed in alignment with company standards and project objectives. This role plays a strategic leadership function within the business unit by driving consistency in scheduling practices, guiding project teams, and delivering actionable insights to support successful project delivery. The Scheduling Manager serves as the primary scheduling resource for the business unit and provides mentorship to scheduling staff and project teams.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Lead the implementation and enforcement of enterprise scheduling standards across all projects within the business unit.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of baseline and progress schedules using Primavera P6 and other tools, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and project execution plans.
- Serve as the primary scheduling advisor to business unit leadership, providing data-driven input to support strategic planning and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate and conduct schedule reviews at key project phases (e.g., preconstruction, construction startup, monthly updates).
- Provide guidance and oversight to project teams and schedulers to ensure the integrity, logic, and accuracy of project schedules.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools to assess schedule health and performance across the business unit, including critical path and variance analysis.
- Support resource and cost-loading efforts as needed to enhance schedule transparency and forecasting.
- Collaborate with preconstruction teams to produce preliminary and bid-phase schedules that reflect realistic sequencing and durations.
- Mentor, coach, and train scheduling personnel to build internal capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a liaison with clients, partners, and subcontractors on schedule-related matters, representing the business unit professionally.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7–10+ years of experience in construction scheduling, with at least 3 years in a lead or management role.
- Prior experience overseeing scheduling activities across multiple projects or programs, preferably within a business unit or regional structure.
- Expert proficiency in Primavera P6; familiarity with additional scheduling tools such as SmartPM or MS Project is a plus.
- Deep understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and its application in commercial construction.
- Proven ability to lead scheduling teams and elevate schedule management practices across an organization.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
- Demonstrated success in building trust and collaboration across functional teams.
- Certification (e.g., PMI-SP, PSP) preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- May require occasional travel to project sites within the business unit’s geographic footprint.
- Primarily office-based work with occasional site visits requiring light physical activity (e.g., walking, standing).
- Strong manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers, etc.).
