About the role

McCain Foods is accepting applications for a Boiler & Refrigeration (B&R) Operator at the Plover, WI plant. This role operates, maintains, and adjusts boiler, refrigeration, oil, and air systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations. The position supports daily system monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and regulatory compliance while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Operate, maintain, repair, and adjust boiler, refrigeration, oil, and air systems using appropriate tools and instruments.

  • Conduct system tests, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, including shops and equipment‑repair spaces, to prevent contamination or damage.

  • Follow GMPs, safety policies, PSM requirements, and regulatory standards while coordinating tasks with supervisors, planners, and other departments.

  • Assist with developing procedures, training new hires, supporting SAP processes, and communicating with contractors as needed.

  • Investigate equipment malfunctions, coordinate repairs, and emphasize safe work practices at all times.

 

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Strong mechanical knowledge of boiler and refrigeration systems, including regulations and daily safety requirements.

  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram instructions; analyze data; and solve problems in standardized situations.

  • Working knowledge of SAP, FactoryTalk SE, and required reporting systems.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, and maintain strong working relationships across departments.

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid forklift license and use proper PPE, including fire‑rated garments and respirators.

 

Physical Demands

  • Periodic heavy physical and mental effort, including lifting/carrying up to 50lb+ and working in awkward positions.

  • Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous chemicals, gases, and intense noise.

  • Regular use of personal tools and manual dexterity for system adjustments and repairs.

  • Ability to wear a respirator and pass required testing.
