Buckland is looking for a Manager Accounting

What you’ll be doing

This position is responsible for managing and leading the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring that Canadian and U.S. accounting workflows align with departmental expectations and goals.

You will be responsible for

 

  • Manage, train, and oversee the Canadian and US Accounting Teams.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of financial statements.
  • Manage the preparation, completion and analysis of budgets and forecasts.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on financial and operational data to understand financial performance at the company and line of business level.
  • Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders on financial results, cost management, projects, and other business requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure efficient completion of tasks across the department.
  • Maintain proper documentation around processes, procedures, policies, and key business decisions.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and ensure company compliance.
  • Liaison with external parties with regards to financial and tax requirements and issues.
  • Act as Finance subject matter expert (SME) on company and department projects.
  • Support AP and AR Teams when required

 

 Leadership Responsibilities

  • Ability to manage a group of +20 employees
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Hire and Terminate employees
  • Assign tasks to team members
  • Deliver training and guidance of direct reports
  • Monitor work volumes of direct reports to ensure entries are completed to customs regulations guidelines
  • Supervise team members, conduct team meetings, monitor attendance, and work schedules

 

What we need from you

  • University degree in finance or related discipline.
  • Accredited accounting designation (CPA).
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing, mentoring, and leading a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Word.)
  • Strong background working directly with a team managing day to day administrative/accounting duties.
  • Effective communication skills to convey financial concepts to company managers and executives.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times.
  • Valid Passport ability to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in CAD/USA/MEX.
