    About Camden Rockport Elementary School

    Camden Rockport Elementary School, nestled in a spacious setting with woods and fields adjacent to the high school, serves approximately 315 students in grades PreK-4 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRES uses a responsive classroom structure, has a robust system of support for students, and features the first nature-based public PreK in the state of Maine.

    Position Summary
    We are seeking a dynamic, highly organized professional to serve as a second full-time Special Education Teacher in the life skills program at Camden Rockport Elementary School to work with children with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate will deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to young children with disabilities, incorporate a nature-based approach that views the outdoor environment as an essential classroom, and support students' early literacy, numeracy, communication, functional, and social-emotional development. The candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with various stakeholders. The successful candidate should have training and experience in providing positive behavior interventions, instruction in activities of daily living, and support for students in both special and regular education settings

    Key Responsibilities

    • Foster a warm, inclusive classroom community that supports students' functional and social-emotional growth and sense of belonging.
    • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with IEP goals
    • Integrate outdoor, nature-based learning experiences that extend academic and social learning beyond the classroom walls.
    • Collaborate with related service providers to support student inclusion.
    • Monitor student progress and maintain special education documentation
    • Maintain consistent communication with families, colleagues, and support staff to ensure a smooth continuation of learning.
    • Special Education case-management, consultation, and supervision of Educational Technicians.

    Requirements

    • Background check, including fingerprinting
    • Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification with Teacher of Children With Disabilities 282 (Birth to age 5) endorsement required
    • Experience working in life skills programs and collaborating with outside agencies is preferred

    Pay and Benefits

    • Pay starts at $52,686 (step B - 0) annually with possibility of increase based on experience, within the parameters of the applicable contract
