What you will do:
The Full-Time Inventory Control Clerk oversees the day-to-day management of inventory and receiving operations for all departments (Retail, Cafe, Ice Cream, and Guest Experiences) at the Tillamook Creamery Visitor Center. They ensure accuracy in cost, quality, and stock levels for all incoming and outgoing products. Key responsibilities include verifying and auditing shipments, managing discrepancies, maintaining organized and clean storage areas, and upholding food safety standards such as FIFO. The role collaborates with various teams to process orders, handle interdepartmental transfers, perform regular inventory counts, and manage perishables according to company policy. Additionally, the position requires proficiency with office and inventory systems, supporting various retail projects, maintaining clear communication with vendors and internal stakeholders, and contributing to process improvements. A professional demeanor, reliability, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities are essential for success in this role.
Here’s a day in the life:
Ensures cost control, quality control, and inventory control through verifying orders against invoices, auditing contents of product cases and using the receiving system in place to verify cost
Reporting discrepancies, such as too little inventory or overages since the last count.
Identifies shipment errors for product to be pulled from available inventory and returned; research backorders and brand selection errors.
Accountable for reporting damaged and spoiled products (write offs), according to TCCA policy.
Checking-in and verifying all product received on orders to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are delivered and meet TCCA policy for quality, counting, and condition
Assist with putting orders away in proper location, storeroom, or freezer/cooler in a timely manner. Orders may include, but not limited to: Tillamook Branded Dairy, alcohol, US Foods, paper goods, retail freight, beverages, etc.
Exercises FIFO and all food handling safety protocols. Trains Creamery associates on how to put away orders, and how to pull products from storage spaces.
Verifying that all vendor invoices are accurate, including legible prices, unit accuracy, etc
Handles POS receiving for all TCCA made dairy product invoices Creamery departments and CRP. Issue RTV’s and quantity adjustments for Tillamook Branded Dairy order discrepancies.
Prepare customer and internal requests, including product charge outs, pick up preparation, etc
Responsible for daily restocking, inventory management, and transfers for the Tillamook App from Counterpoint.
Exercises flexible schedule for company priorities, special tasks, events that may arise such as end of month inventory.
Uphold Tillamook brand and safety standards by managing the space in both retail walk-in refrigerators and ensure all staging areas are organized. Maintain receiving and storage areas to be kept clean and clear
Leads spot counting and monthly Tillamook Branded Dairy, alcohol, and rotating retail categories inventories.
Handles weekly cycle counts for the Cheese Gift category, and any other product as needed.
Completes and reports weekly inventories and end of month inventories for all Creamery channels.
Keeping all stakeholders informed of upcoming expiration dates and short codes.
Build professional and respectful working relationships with all internal and external vendors, customers, coworkers, and management.
Ensure that all Tillamook dairy products get rotated on the refrigerators, freezers & walk-ins.
Maintain the walk-ins for storage and organization: Organizing, cleaning, updating storage maps, upkeeping labeling, etc.
May occasionally perform duties such as: stocking, stacking, facing/conditioning, pricing, marking, and rotating of dairy and frozen food items in the absence of associates
Breakdown incoming loads from warehouse or DSD suppliers. May transport product from receiving area into freezer, coolers, backrooms, and customer facing floor
Assist the warehouse driver with dropping off orders at the Creamery: unloading the truck/lift gate operating, delegating where pallets should go upon arrival, clearing a path/traffic control in hallways, etc.
Assists with interdepartmental transfers of products for end of month and submits the paperwork to Accounting or Bookkeeping.
Take an active role in improving processes by providing feedback and suggestions to Management
Proficiency with standard office equipment including copiers, computer, fax machine, etc.
Consistent and dependable attendance
Maintains a professional appearance in grooming and dress, as well as a friendly, professional demeanor. Maintains confidentiality.
Demonstrates initiative to seek out work when all assigned tasks are either completed or not requiring immediate attention. Asks questions for clarification when given a task or project
Utilize a computer with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Function as a collaborator and be able to interact with vendors and staff.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
High School Diploma or Equivalent GED
Customer Service experience
Packing, Receiving and Rotating (FIFO) Product
2+ years’ experience in retail, retail receiving or retail warehouse position Mathematical and Analytical Skills
Multi-Task and prioritize in fast paced environment.
Must have the ability to obtain Food handlers permit & Pallet Jack Certification
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
Physical requirements:
Standing and/or walking
Bend, push, pull, and/or climb daily
Lifting up to 40 lbs.
Vision for machine or computer operations
Hearing for operating machinery
Working conditions:
Warehouse: Can be noisy and crowded. The building is temperature controlled and well lit. Requires standing entire shift, walking on sales floor and climbing ladders in storeroom. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting to 40 pounds.
Visitor Center: Can be noisy and crowded. The building is temperature controlled and well lit. Requires computer work at desk and standing, walking on sales floor, and climbing ladders in storeroom.
