Purpose of Position: The Manager of Project Delivery oversees the comprehensive lifecycle of complex projects. In this capacity, the incumbent serves as the strategic architect for project procurement, responsible for selecting and structuring optimal delivery teams—including Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), Public-Private Partnerships (P3), and Build-Operate-Transfer—while facilitating the execution of the projects to completion. The role requires balancing innovative contract structures with excellent performance management to drive organizational efficiency, mitigate risk, and maximize project return on investment (ROI).
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Procurement Leadership
- Delivery Strategy: Evaluate project requirements to determine the most effective delivery team structure. Lead the development of procurement strategies, RFP’s, and performance based contracts.
- Commercial Structuring: Define and negotiate risk allocation frameworks between the organization, contractors, and external partners.
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Serve as the primary authority on multi-party contracts, ensuring adherence to compliance standards while assisting with managing scope adjustments, claims, and change orders.:
- End-to-End Execution: Oversee the full project lifecycle, from initial conceptualization through construction to final project handover.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify project-wide risks—ranging from contractual ambiguities to technical bottlenecks—and implement mitigation strategies.
- Design Management: Serve as the critical link between engineering and construction to ensure designs remain constructible, budget-compliant, and aligned with client objectives.
Pursuit, Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Pursuit Leadership: Drive the selection and pursuit of alternative delivery projects, acting as the subject-matter expert on procurement processes.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for executive leadership, clients, and external partners, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on project objectives.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary, high performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and collaborative problem-solving.
- Industry Advocacy: Represent the firm in relevant industry organizations to monitor procurement trends and legislative developments.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate project management methodologies to refine the delivery processes and enhance organizational efficiency.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in project management, with a demonstrated record of successfully delivering complex projects and navigating alternative delivery models (e.g., P3, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Build-Operate-Transfer).
- Technical Expertise: An understanding of contract law, project finance, and commercial frameworks.
- Leadership Presence: Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead teams without direct line authority within high-pressure environments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or equivalent experience is required.
- Professional Certification: Relevant certifications, such as PMP or DBIA, are highly considered.
