Job Description

About the Department

Oversees and supervises the daily operations and staffing of the Oxford Aquatic Center facility. 

Position Duties

•Assist with training staff prior to the opening of the facility. 
•Assist with conducting training programs, staff meetings, and evaluations throughout the season. 
•Be a main point of contact for customer service when on-duty. 
•Manage staff schedules to cover swim team, public swim, swim lessons, and private parties. 
•Maintain required records concerning maintenance, pool chemistry, daily logs, incident reports, etc. 
•Oversee and inspect all areas of the pool for sanitation and safe equipment
•Report any problems or incidents to management. 
•Overseeing and assigning daily cleaning of the facility including: locker rooms/restrooms, deck surfaces, trash/recycling, and pool vacuuming
•Checking and maintaining appropriate water chemistry levels as set forth by the City of Oxford, Butler County and State of Ohio standards. 
•Responding to bodily fluid incidents affecting water chemistry 
•Position requires a flexible work schedule; mornings, daytime, evenings and weekends 
•Supervisors must be at least 18 years of age and/or have a high school diploma or GED. 

Minimum Qualifications

Incumbent must obtain, or be willing to obtain, the following certifications prior to beginning work with the City of Oxford: Lifeguard Certification, Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguard Instructor Certification (preferred), Water Safety Instructor Certification (preferred) 

Incumbent must possess the ability to obtain and maintain lifeguard certification from an accredited agency (i.e. American Red Cross, YMCA, StarGuard, etc.). 
Incumbent must sit, see, stand, walk, use hands, speak, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Other Qualifications

Incumbent will work both indoors and outdoors. Outdoors requires exposure to heat and sun. Aquatic Center environment is often busy and crowded. Must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate well with other employees and across other divisions of the department. Must be available to work a varied schedule including mornings, daytime hours, evenings and weekends.
