What You Will Do
The Assistant Food Coordinator (Assistant Cook) – Senior Dining assists the Food Coordinator (Head Cook) with the preparation and service of the noon meal for Senior Dining and Meals on Wheels programs. This role supports daily kitchen operations while ensuring food safety, cleanliness, and quality service for our senior clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food Coordinator (Head Cook) with daily kitchen operations, including:
- Preparing food items using established recipes
- Portioning and dishing up food items
- Serving in-house dining participants
- Prepare and package food items and supplies for:
- Satellite Senior Dining sites using food carriers
- Meals on Wheels routes, as necessary
- Stay familiar with and comply with all Minnesota Department of Health food safety regulations, including:
- Recording required hot and cold food temperatures
- Ensuring safe and sanitary use of kitchen equipment, tools, and work surfaces
- Following first aid and fire safety guidelines
- Check incoming food supply purchases; label, date, store, and monitor food inventory
- Assist with cleaning duties, including:
- Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors
- Washing and sanitizing dishes and food carriers
- Emptying garbage containers
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of cooking experience required
- Knowledge of food service equipment operation is helpful
