Duties

Serve as a Clinical Psychologist Mental Health Consultant (MHC) for the Clinic and Mental Health System of Care (MHSOC) Primary Care Mental Health (PCMH) program.,Determine mental health diagnoses in accordance with the most recent version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) when differential diagnosis is required.,Provide individual and group treatment, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-mental therapy, and psychoeducational classes.,Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and mental health issues affecting medical conditions.,Consult with primary care providers to select, approve, and document treatment priorities.,Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care mental health via trainings and briefings.,Conduct outpatient group classes, stress management, relaxation training, assertive/social skills training, smoking cessation training, substance abuse identification and brief related interventions appropriate for primary care.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health Consultant): Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. (Please upload a copy of your transcript) Selective Placement Factor Licensure: This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (Please upload a copy of your license) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Specialized Experience: In order to qualify, your resume must demonstrate that you possess at least one year of specialized experience, which includes conducting psychological evaluations, providing individual or group counseling services, and implementing therapeutic treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
