Activity Director – Skilled Nursing / Long-Term Care / Subacute (NJ)

We are seeking a dynamic and organized Activity Director to lead and coordinate engaging programs for residents in a skilled nursing, long-term care, and subacute setting. This role is responsible for enhancing quality of life through meaningful activities that support residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive activity program for SNF, LTC, and subacute residents

• Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars, including evenings and weekends as needed

• Adapt programming to meet varying cognitive and physical abilities, including dementia care

• Lead group and one-on-one activities (recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic)

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to align activities with care plans

• Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations

• Organize special events, holidays, and community involvement opportunities

• Supervise activity staff and volunteers as applicable

Qualifications:

• Experience in activities within a healthcare setting (SNF/LTC/subacute preferred)

• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for activity programming

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to engage and motivate residents with diverse needs

• Certification as an Activity Director (or eligibility) preferred per NJ requirements
