About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about Cyber Security to join our Christchurch-based team working on our Evo platform. Here you will help design and deliver high‑quality software that enables our customers to better understand and work with complex geoscience data, supporting better decision‑making around the world.
In this role, you’ll combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, working closely with cross‑functional teams to solve complex problems and deliver secure, scalable solutions. You’ll also take on an important role as our Advanced Security Champion, helping embed strong security practices across engineering teams.
In this role, you will have opportunity to:
  • Design and architect complex software systems that meet functional, performance, and security requirements
  • Build, test, and maintain high‑quality software across the full development lifecycle
  • Champion secure software development and partner with our Application Security team to improve our security posture
  • Lead by example through strong engineering standards, code quality, and best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers
  • Work closely with product, security, and other teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes
  • Support release planning and delivery to ensure reliable, compliant, and high-quality releases
To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in professional software engineering roles
  • Strong experience designing and developing complex software systems
  • A strong interest in cyber security and secure development practices; relevant security certifications or working towards one is an advantage
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
  • The ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions, and influence stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Technologies we use:
  • Services written in Python using FastAPI
  • Kubernetes and Docker
  • Deployments via automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code
  • Monitoring and observability using tools such as Datadog.
