Position: Adjunct Instructor – Art

Position Summary:
The Department of Art in the College of Arts & Sciences at Campbell University invites applications for the position of Adjunct Art Instructor to begin August 2026. Classes to be taught would be 1 section of Drawing, all levels (Drawing I, Drawing II, and Advanced Drawing) and 1 section of Painting, all levels (Painting I, Painting II, and Advanced Painting). The Drawing classes would be taught from life, no nude models, using still life, landscape, interiors, exteriors, and clothed models as appropriate. (Models used are usually either student volunteers from the class or work study students.). The Painting class should be both oil and acrylic. Currently, the individual students choose which medium they would like to use.
Possible Art History 1 & 2 Courses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruct one section of Drawing (all levels, Drawing I, Drawing II, and Advanced Drawing).
Instruct one section of Painting (all levels, Painting I, Painting II, and Advanced Painting).
Interface with necessary personnel regarding cleaning of classroom/studio and maintenance of equipment.
Implement any program assessments as designed by the department/division/university.
Evaluate and assess student performance.
Post grades on Campbell’s Self-Service portal.
Maintain professional communications with students and staff at all times.
Respond promptly, no later than 24 hours, to student and campus staff emails and requests for assistance.

Education/Experience:
M.F.A. in Studio Art (preferred) or other graduate/professional education in a related field of study. All graduate work must be documented with official transcripts submitted to the university.
Experience in teaching adult students is desirable.
Prior teaching experience is desirable.
The successful candidate will need to travel to the main campus at Buies Creek, NC for an interview, meeting and/or training.
Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector desired.
