SUMMARY
The Construction Quality Coordinator supports the Quality Manager in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes across construction projects. They shall implement Haydon’s Quality Management Plans (QMP’s) and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability on every job site. This role ensures that construction activities comply with contract documents, project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards. The coordinator acts as a key liaison between field operations, project management, subcontractors, and inspectors to promote consistent quality performance throughout all phases of construction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
- Assist the Quality Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP) for the project.
- Conduct field inspections and audits to verify work conforms to approved drawings, specifications, codes, and standards.
- Conduct regular site quality inspections and document findings.
- Verify that inspection and testing activities are performed according to project requirements.
- Support the tracking and closure of nonconformance reports (Observations), deficiencies, and punch list items and track corrective actions to resolution
- Monitor subcontractor and vendor quality processes; assist in pre-installation meetings and quality checklists.
Project Quality Oversight
- Prepare and maintain accurate and organized quality records, including inspection reports, test results, certifications, and quality logs.
- Assist in preparation and tracking of quality reports for internal management and client review.
- Ensure document control procedures are followed for quality-related records.
- Support audits by compiling documentation and responding to findings.
- Assist with quality-related submittals, RFIs, and punch list coordination.
- Ensure all required materials delivered to the site are properly verified to comply with approved specifications and approved submittals.
- Support project turnover documentation and quality closeout packages.
- Schedule and coordinate inspections, pre-pour evaluations and testing with third-party agencies as required.
- Witness inspections and testing when required and document results.
- Verify corrective actions are implemented and effective.
- Ensure quality processes align with company safety and environmental requirements.
- Support compliance with regulatory, contractual, and client-specific quality standards.
Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and field staff to address quality issues proactively.
- Communicate quality requirements to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in conducting quality meetings and pre-installation meetings. Participate in all other project meetings as required.
- Serve as a point of contact for quality-related inquiries from project teams.
- Partner closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Safety to ensure alignment across teams.
- Communicate quality expectations and observations clearly with subcontractors and field crews.
Continuous Improvement
- Assist the Quality Manager in identifying trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for quality improvement.
- Support quality training initiatives for field and office personnel.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and compliance across project teams
- Contribute to lessons-learned sessions and post-project quality reviews.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend process improvements.
- Assist in training field staff on quality procedures and standards.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field experience.
- 3+ years of commercial construction experience, with exposure to quality assurance or project coordination roles.
- Familiarity with building codes, standards, and inspection/testing procedures.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documentation.
Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed on active construction sites with regular exposure to outdoor conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however could vary when positioned on-site.
- Requirement to wear PPE during site visits and navigate construction environments including uneven terrain, confined spaces, and active work zones.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods during meetings, job walks, and site assessments. May need to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
