The ministry is made up of two operating entities: Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre, located in Adrian, MI.

POSITION SUMMARY.
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate physical education program that promotes physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits.
This role integrates Biblical principles into instruction while fostering a safe, structured, and engaging environment where students develop discipline, character, and respect for others. The Physical Education Teacher contributes to the overall mission of Lenawee Christian School by supporting the spiritual, physical, and social growth of each student.
In addition, this role partners with The Christian Family Centre to enhance student access to facilities, programming, and wellness opportunities, creating a unified approach to physical development and community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging physical education instruction aligned with school curriculum and state standards.
- Develop lesson plans that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs and abilities of all students.
- Assess student performance and provide feedback on skill development and participation.
Classroom & Environment Management
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-managed learning environment.
- Establish and enforce expectations for student behavior, safety, and participation.
- Ensure proper use and care of equipment and facilities.
- Monitor student safety during all physical activities and respond appropriately to injuries or incidents.
Student Development & Engagement
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among students.
- Encourage student participation, confidence, and personal growth.
- Support the development of discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting.
Assessment & Communication
- Evaluate student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and participation.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and expectations.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school communication processes.
Collaboration with The Christian Family Centre
- Partner with Centre leadership and staff to coordinate use of facilities for physical education programming.
- Integrate Centre resources (fitness spaces, equipment, programs) to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Support alignment between school physical education curriculum and Centre wellness initiatives.
- Assist in developing student access to fitness, recreation, and wellness opportunities beyond the classroom.
- Collaborate on special events, programs, or initiatives that promote physical health, community engagement, and ministry impact.
- Maintain effective communication to ensure safe, organized, and efficient shared facility use.
Program Support & School Engagement
- Support school-wide events, activities, and athletic programs as assigned.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student development and school initiatives.
- Assist with supervision duties as assigned.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain professional standards aligned with ACSI and state accreditation requirements.
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training.
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS.
Christian Faith & Character
- Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
- Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field required.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience preferred.
- Experience working with children in a school or athletic setting preferred.
- Valid state teaching certification required.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Ability to manage groups and maintain a safe environment during physical activity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities.
- Organizational and time management skills.
EMPLOYMENT TERMS.
- This position is classified as full-time, salaried, exempt and follows an annual teacher contract aligned to the academic calendar.
- Compensation is structured as an annual salary paid over twelve (12) months, with payroll processed on a semi-monthly basis.
- The role follows the academic year, with responsibilities including instruction, supervision, and participation in required school activities.
- Regular, reliable, and on-site attendance is required.
- Employment is at-will and contingent upon adherence to Lenawee Christian School’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment.
- Compensation offers will be matched to our teacher salary scale, aligned off of years of experience, degree type, and state certification status.
