Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

  1. Learning how to operate various typed of equipment, make minor adjustments during production runs to ensure quality parts, and reporting issues to the Group Lead.
  2. Reading previously prepared setup sheets for individual parts and ensuring that set-up follows the proper setting on the equipment.
  3. Conducting quality inspections as required by the written Quality Procedures.
  4. Completing records of production.
  5. Moving parts to the subsequent operation.
  6. Recording scrap or rework and reasons, therefore.
  7. Participating in and or developing corrective actions to prevent defects from recurring.
  8. Following procedures consistently to obtain repeatability.
  9. Participating in team meetings seeking continuous improvements for the operation.
  10. Operating hand jacks.

 

Working Conditions:   The production area is subject to temperature and humidity fluctuations between winter and summer as the plant is heated but not air conditioned.  Ventilation and circulation of air is provided.   The equipment can be located in a work cell whereby it is positioned as close to the next machine/operation in the production sequence as practical.   Safety glasses and steel toed shoes are required and hearing protection is available.   Work gloves, when required, are furnished.

Job Requirements:  

  1. Training and experience - Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, proficiency in shop math (fractions, decimals, metric), ability to read and follow specific routing instructions, ability to read and understand setup instructions, ability to read blueprints, proficiency in the use of appropriate measuring instruments (tape measure, dial calipers, micrometers), ability to check quality of parts against templates.
  2. Physical requirements – Able to stand for 8 hour shift or longer. Able to bend, twist, stoop to remove parts from baskets and lift to work area.  Able to load parts into work area and completed baskets without damaging the part.  Good hand and eye coordination.
  3. Tools – normal hand tools necessary to make minor adjustments to machines such as allen wrenches, pliars and adjustable wrenches, ball peen hammer, tape measure and scale, and possibly 0” – 3” calipers (requires inspection certification)

Shift Hours 

 2nd Shift (Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 2:00am) 

Education and Experience Required

  • At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
