Summary:
The ReStore Retail General Manager is responsible for the overall management of the store?s day-to-day operations as well as playing an active role in planning the ReStore?s future.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates administrative procedures, policies, including oversight of materials used.
- Recognizes that ReStore is often the first impression of Green Country Habitat for Humanity and ensures Habitat?s reputation and helps maintain a clean, well merchandised, and orderly environment.
- Oversees staff, volunteers, and homeowners, ensures all departments are adequately covered.
- Oversee the effective merchandising of the sales floor, maximizing available display space and use inventory control and pricing to ensure appropriate turnover of merchandise.
- Ensure all donated items are researched, properly priced, accurately ticketed, and safely moved to the sales floor in a timely manner to ensure quick sales and maximum revenue and profit generation.
- Ensures Buy4ReSale merchandise is fully stocked and well merchandised at all times.
- An online presence is necessary in today?s retail environment. This role will ensure that ReStore has an online presence with on-going posts. Highlighting and highlighting new donations, rare and interesting items, in-store happenings, and promotions.
- Is aware of the Store?s monthly budget goals and strives to ensure the ReStore achieves those goals.
- Provides quality customer service and handles grievances professionally.
- Facilitates the proper maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards and accident procedures.
- Helps identify solutions to issues that may arise relating to operations so that the smooth running of the ReStore is optimally maintained.
- Participates in developing, rolling out and measuring marketing, advertising, and social media programs to increase donations, sales, and volunteer participation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including contractors, suppliers, individual businesses, community, and church groups to increase quality and quantity of merchandise donations.
Staff and Volunteer Management Responsibilities:
- Implements and maintains personnel policies.
- Trains and manages Store staff, volunteers, and homeowners in accordance with policies and ensure staff is well versed about Habitat's program and local activities.
- Facilitates a positive, team-oriented environment in which all staff and volunteers are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
- Addresses and document violations of policies and code of conduct by staff and recommend action regarding chronic or serious situations.
- Resolves situations involving volunteers in consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator and the ReStore Vice President if needed.
- Evaluates staff performance and volunteers in accordance with job descriptions and performance evaluation procedures and recommend performance actions to ReStore Vice President.
- Attending scheduled staff meetings.
- Works with Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers.
- Reports to ReStore Vice President daily about staff and volunteer issues or concerns.
- Provides weekly / monthly reports as directed by the Vice President Retail Operations.
Finance and Administration Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and monitoring systems for daily cash and credit transactions and deposits. Ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Open and close cash registers ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Provide accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses as required or requested.
- Approve employee recording of time worked.
- Approve, ensure accurate coding, and submit payable invoices on a timely basis.
- Work in conjunction with the Vice President of Retail Operations to develop annual operating budgets and recommend capital expenditures.
- Provide backup for cashier when needed.
Policy and Planning Responsibilities:
- Helps develop and recommend policy for sales.
- Monitors competitive merchandise market environment (pricing and practices).
- Participates in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Presents all policy proposals to the Vice President of Retail Operations for approval.
- Work with the management team to develop methods that increase sales and decrease costs.
- Work with marketing team to develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness throughout Green Country Habitat for Humanity.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Drives a van or box truck.
- Loads items at the work site in a safe and courteous fashion.
- Assists in unloading truck at Cabinet Shop, following dock guidelines.
- Operates powerlift equipment and various power tools.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Maintain a workplace free from serious recognized hazards and comply with safety standards, rules, and regulations.
- Use tools available to maintain a safe environment.
- Educate yourself on hazards, safety practices and rules.
- Communicate about any unsafe practices and conditions.
- Always follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Reports any injury, accident or near miss (no matter how small) to management.
