About the Department
The Santa Clara County Office of Education is now accepting applications for Assistant Superintendent – Business Services.
Under the direction of the County Superintendent of Schools, the Assistant Superintendent – Business Services is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, directing, and evaluating the departments of the Business, Facilities & Operations Division, including District Business Services, General Services, Procurement, Contract Administration, Internal Business Services, Risk Management, Emergency Preparedness and Response, and Safety and Security; oversee business related services to school districts and the County Office of Education; serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet; and perform all other assigned duties.
This position serves as the senior executive responsible for Business Services and is distinguished by its responsibility for providing strategic and operational leadership.
This position is full-time, in-person and has a work year of 12 months, 260 days.
Leadership team members are eligible to receive a $2,500 annual stipend for a master’s degree and a $2,500 additional stipend for a doctorate, provided official documentation is submitted.

Minimum Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Master’s degree with major course work in education administration, public administration, business administration (MBA) from an accredited college or university of higher education and
- EXPERIENCE: Seven (7) or more years of comprehensive and progressive directly related administrative experience. Prior experience as a business or fiscal director in a large California school district or county office of education.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- California Chief Business Official Certificate
- Valid California driver's license

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
- Assessments and interviews will take place in-person.
- Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
- The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for the week of May 18, 2026.
- Prior to the oral examination date candidates will receive a prompt and will be required to develop a slide deck, which will be presented to the interview panel during the oral exam.
- Based on the results, Classified Personnel Services will create an unranked list of qualified candidates..
- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for the week of May 25, 2026.

Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
