About the Legal & Policy Department
EEIs Legal & Policy Department serves as a strategic advisor and advocate on the regulatory, legislative, and legal issues shaping the electric power industry. The department works at the intersection of law and public policy to support EEIs member companies in delivering reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy to customers across the United States.
Among other things, the team monitors and analyzes legislative developments, regulatory proceedings, and judicial decisions that impact electric utilities. It develops policy positions, prepares formal comments and filings before regulatory agencies (such as FERC, EPA, DOI, and DOE), and engages with policymakers and other stakeholders to advance sound energy policy. In addition to advocacy, the Legal and Policy Department facilitates collaboration among member companies by convening working groups and coordinating industry responses to complex legal and regulatory challenges. We work closely with EEIs government affairs and communications teams.
This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in environmental and economic policy and regulation and/or the legal issues affecting energy companies.
