A registered professional nurse responsible for the delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. Coordination of all aspects of the peri operative period for routine GI/ advanced GI/ Bronchoscopy and nursing standards of care using the nursing process. Also directs and guides the activities of other personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Must be able to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures for both scrub and circulating roles. This position will float between the pavilion and main OR. This position will require a weekday call and weekend call rotation.
Requirements:
- Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
- Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia.
- CPR
- Minimum of 1 year Med-Surg experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- BSN, MSN
- Specialty certification – SGNA
- ACLS certification
- Endoscopy procedures
Skills:
- Demonstrates good leadership and communication skills.
- Demonstrates job related computer competence as seen in patient documentation and information retrieval, Meditech applications.
- Practices within scope of Nurse Practice Act.
- Clinical competence in all aspects of the Endoscopy Unit.
- On call required and rotating shifts.
- Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year.
- Annual education required per hospital certification(s).
