Position: Seasonal Staff, Part Time

Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employer: Educational & Cultural Trust Fund of the Electrical Industry

Department: Long Island Education Center

Reports to: Director and Associate Director of LIEC

Location: Cutchogue, NY 11935

 

Purpose of the Position:

Directly participates in the daily operations at the LIEC facility by keeping the highest standards of guest service and cleanliness in all public areas of the Long Island Education Center.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Check in and check out of members as needed.
  • Respond to guest requests and be readily available to assist guests as needed.
  • Assist with cleanliness of public areas which includes Conference Center, Restaurant, office, and grounds.
  • Reports any guest discrepancies to Management.
  • Reports any maintenance concerns or requests to Management in an efficient manner, which pertains to public areas and member requests.
  • Assist with dinner preparation for members if on an evening shift. This may include barbeque set up if applicable, hot buffet set up, dessert set up, clean up, food handling supervision, restocking of non-alcoholic beverages and firewood if applicable.
  • Is responsible for reporting to work regularly and on time; punching in and out on time, and utilizing the timecard provided, at the start and end of each shift.
  • Is responsible for coming to work in full uniform before the shift starts.
  • Reviews the daily event sheets, assignment sheets, or special assignment sheets given based on the event.
  • Is responsible for assigned set of keys and securing all designated areas at the end of each shift.
  • Provided Management with up-to-date pertinent information pertaining to the shift.
  • Follows all Lost and Found procedures as specified by the Long Island Education Center’s General Information and Guideline document.
  • Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules as specified in the Joint Industry Board - Employee handbook.
  • Additional duties which you may be asked to perform and are expected to perform any related duties as requested by Management.

 

Position Hours: 

All shift hours are scheduled to change based on group needs. Employment Duration will be based on NYS Permitted Hours for Minors Under 18 years of Age.

 

Physical Demands:

Requires high physical stamina, primarily involving standing and walking for 4–8-hour shifts, frequently reaching, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs. They must navigate crowded areas, manage table rotations, and maintain a pleasant demeanor while working in fast-paced, sometimes noisy, environments. Good communication skills; hearing and speaking clearly to guests and staff amidst high noise levels. 

 

Requirements

  • Have strong customer/guest service skills.
  • Use written communication skills to communicate with guests and associates.
  • Have minimal computer skills.
