- Design and analyze structural systems for substations, including steel support structures, structure foundations, equipment foundations, and control enclosure foundations, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ASCE, AISC, and ACI.
- Develop detailed foundation construction drawings, construction specifications, and steel structure detail drawings.
- Perform structural calculations and finite element analysis for steel structures.
- Perform foundation structural calculations for shallow and deep foundations.
- Analyze substation rigid bus and insulators based on client requirements and applicable codes and standards (ASCE, IEEE).
- Coordinate with civil engineers to understand the grading design to incorporate with the foundation scope.
- Lead and mentor assistant-level engineers in the execution of engineering tasks and project deliverables.
- Coordinate with electrical engineers and other disciplines to ensure the integration of civil/structural designs with overall substation design.
- Participate in the company's quality program for all engineering designs and packages prior to issuing to clients.
- Actively coordinate with procurement, construction, and project managers to ensure successful EPC project delivery.
- Provide construction support by reviewing and responding to RFIs submitted from the field.
- Perform site visits for project kick-off meetings, site investigations, and scoping opportunities.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, construction specifications, and material takeoffs.
- Ensure projects comply with client requirements, utility standards, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of structural engineering experience required.
- Or Bachelor’s degree in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of structural engineering experience required.
- Master's Degree of Science degree in Structural Engineering and 2 years of structural engineering experience required.
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE and BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Engineers in Training-EIT Certification required.
- Professional Engineering License preferred.
