Job Description

Encore at Parkside is currently hiring for a PRN Occupational Therapist Assistant. The Occupational Therapist Assistant  will work across Encores 3 communities: Parkside, Foulk, and Wilmington. The Occupational Therapist Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

o   Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.

o   Responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of rehab services; adherence to an established plan of care, department, and patient(s)’ schedule and timely documentation of services.

o   Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.

o   Instruct patients, families, and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.

o   Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.

o   Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary.

o   Implements a patient’s individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.

o   Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including the application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as, but not limited to:

·        Cognitive skills

·        Muscle strength

·        Coordination

·        Endurance  

·        Mobility

·        Perceptual abilities

·        Sensory awareness

·        Sitting and standing tolerance

·        Balance

·        Activities of daily living

·        Joint protection

·        Work simplification

·        Orientation

·        Physical agent modalities

o   Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist.

o   Performs other related duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

o   Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) therapy program.

o   Current DE state licensure.

o   CPR Certification

o   Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

o   Results-oriented with strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

o   Proficient with therapy documentation (NetHealth).

 

Physical Demands:

o   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

o   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

o   Must be able to lift 50-100lbs.

o   Use of proper body mechanics and techniques for bearing weight.

o   Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, and reach when performing daily work.

o   Ability to assist and perform patient transfers, (including but not limited to stand pivot, two-person, sliding board, Hoyer lift, non-weight bearing) safely and effectively with or without mechanical devices.

o   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and or other duties.
