Maintenance Mechanic II
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing a wide range of preventative maintenance, repairs, and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure the safe and efficient operation of hotel equipment, guest rooms, and public areas. This role plays a key part in delivering an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the highest standards of safety, functionality, and appearance throughout the property.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and guest rooms as assigned to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Carry out repairs in guest rooms and public areas, including caulking, basic plumbing, tile repair, painting, and minor carpentry
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment efficiently
- Safely shut down and isolate equipment using proper procedures
- Conduct routine mechanical rounds and accurately document inspections and maintenance activities
- Operate the fire panel and respond appropriately in emergency situations
- Support, guide, and mentor Maintenance Utility team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize guest disruption and room downtime and maximize rooms in-service.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates a strong commitment and passion for maximizing guest satisfaction through high-quality maintenance and repair standards
- Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbing
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings and floor plans
- Strong diagnostic skills with exceptional attention to detail when identifying and resolving deficiencies
- General knowledge of WHMIS and health & safety procedures
- Demonstrates proper use of Lockout/Tagout procedures prior to performing maintenance work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Positive, service-oriented attitude with a willingness to assist guests and team members
- Physically capable of meeting job demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing workloads with a high level of energy and sense of urgency
- Maintains professional composure while handling multiple tasks and guest requests simultaneously
- Must be available to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
