Responsibilities
- Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.
- Operate various surgical equipment and tools
- Passes sterile instruments to surgeons during procedures.
- Applies medical technology of anatomy and physiology correctly.
- Collaborates with circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
- Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential
- Prepares and anticipates instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
- Sets up individual cases correctly using doctor’s preference cards as a reference utilizing appropriate instruments and prosthetic devices.
- Citizenship responsibilities include:
- Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
- Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit
- Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements
- Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Assists physicians and RN with emergency situations.
- Serves as preceptor for new employees and nursing students
- Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis
- Accountable for the disposal of all bio-hazard materials and "sharps."
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
