Job Description

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Senior Procurement Specialist.

This role leads the end-to-end procurement process, from developing specifications and managing solicitations to negotiating and finalizing complex contracts. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and executives, helping them navigate procurement requirements while ensuring contracts are structured, timely, and aligned with organizational goals. You’ll also build and manage supplier relationships, address vendor performance issues, and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation. A key focus of this role is advancing SWaM spending goals by identifying and engaging diverse suppliers. Success in this role requires strong judgment, analytical thinking, and project management skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels of the organization.

To be successful in this role you must possess:       

  • Expertise in supplier management, solicitations, procurement processes, and supplier negotiations
  • Ability to read/interpret contracts, including MSAs, SOWs, MLAs, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and make sound decisions. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. 
  • High degree of self-management, initiative, ownership, and comfortable as the sole subject matter expert for supplier oversight. 
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple vendors, assessments, and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Collaborative, relationship-oriented approach with the ability to build trust across departments. 

 

The ideal candidate would also have experience in:

  • 5+ years of experience in supplier management, procurement, purchasing, contract management, or third-party risk management within a regulated industry (financial services, insurance, housing finance, government entity, or similar), is preferred.
  • Experience with APSPM and private industry processes, preferred.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, IT, InfoSec, Risk, and business owners.

Hiring Range: $71,000 - $96,500
