Job Description

Compass Medical Provider, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and qualified Aerospace Medical Technician to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting the Air Force Accession Medical Waiver Directorate (AMWD) at JBSA-Randolph, TX. This role is responsible for reviewing, processing, and managing medical evaluation cases for accession and special-duty determinations in accordance with Air Force and DoD standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical documentation to support waiver and physical evaluation cases
  • Interpret Air Force and DoD medical standards and provide case recommendations
  • Accurately process and enter case data into HQ AFAC systems within 10 business days
  • Track and manage cases throughout the full review lifecycle
  • Prepare medical summaries outlining applicant history and standards applicability
  • Coordinate with military treatment facilities and consultants (WHASC, SAMMC, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with DAFMAN 48-123, DoDI 6130.03, and AF Waiver Guide
  • Communicate case status updates to stakeholders via email, phone, and in person
  • Identify and escalate cases that fall outside standard procedures
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and Privacy Act requirements

Qualifications

  • Completion of Air Force Aerospace Medical Technician or Flight/Operational Medical Technician training
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in military healthcare operations or physical standards case management (within last 10 years)
  • Strong knowledge of Air Force accession, retention, and special-duty medical standards
  • Ability to interpret complex medical terminology with solid understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Familiarity with DoD and Air Force medical policies and regulations (DAFMAN 48-123, DoDI 6130.03, etc.)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
