Duties and Responsibilities

  27.  Assists with orientation and training of new personnel and acts as a resource person for problems related to patient care

  29. Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
  30. Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
  31. Supervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy room
  32. Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively
  33. Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members
  34. Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability
  35. Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting
  36. Transports patients to the endoscopy room observing policies, procedures, and safety requirements, and according to patient needs
  37. Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical team
  38.  Reviews patient’s medical record and needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
  39. Provides comfort and reassurance to patient
  40. Maintains patient’s privacy and dignity
  41. Explains procedures and care to the patient
  42. Prepares room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed
  43.  Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
  44. Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient
  45. Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient
  46. Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation preprocedure, during procedure, and postprocedure
  47. Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly
  48. Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician

Physical Duties

Ability to sit/stand for a considerable amount of time; ability to walk and some moderate lifting

  1. Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment
  2. Ability to perform occasional overhead and low reaching
  3. Physical strength required for equipment needs and patient-care activities
  4. Visual and auditory acuity for timely responsiveness and patient-care assessment activities
  5. Ability to move quickly in response to patient needs
  6. Constant and frequent judgment and response
  7. Occasional judgment and response to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drills

Requirements 

  1. High school graduate or GED certification
  2. Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  3. RN with active license in appropriate state 
  4. BLS/ACLS certification
  5. IV Certification
  6. EKG Certification
  7. Endoscopy experience preferred but not required
  8. Evidence of leadership qualities
  9. Strong ethical and moral character references
  10. Must be able to commit to assigned hours as per part time employee policy

Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication.
