QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions related to physical activity, student-athlete safety, helping reduce injury risk, improve outcomes, and support academic and athletic success through comprehensive medical care.
Should possess personal characteristics generally recognized as essential for public employees including integrity, initiative, emotional maturity, dependability, courtesy, good judgment and ability to work cooperatively with others. Physical and mental capabilities are necessary to assume responsibilities involved in working with teachers, students, and parents, enthusiasm for and interest in the educational program, potential for growth, personal appearance, grooming and language patterns as satisfactory examples for students.
Any combination equivalent to four years of college, or a Bachelor's Degree. National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) certified. Possess a valid Red Cross First Aid Card and CPR Card.
This position requires knowledge of guidance and supervision techniques. Basic concepts and principles of child development and behavioral characteristics; operating structure, principles, goals and objectives of the educational process; appropriate human relations and student needs. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to communicate satisfactorily in oral and written form as necessary. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with students and adults. Relate effectively with parents and community.
A PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL ASSESSMENT AND A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CLASS "C" CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE AND PROOF OF INSURANCE COVERAGE.
DUTIES OF POSITION: Injury Prevention, Create and carry out postseason, off-season, preseason and in season conditioning programs to assist the athlete in gaining and maintaining maximum physical conditioning. Injury Recognition and Evaluation-Through injury site palpations and estimations of range of motion, muscle strength, and joint flexibility and through neurological, sensory and motor tests determines the extent of the injury. Injury Management/Treatment and Disposition-Administer proper emergency care and make prompt, appropriate medical referral. Injury Rehabilitation-Under direction of physician carries out a treatment regimen using a variety of therapeutic methods, supportive procedures, or other techniques to aid recovery. Program Organization and Administration-Set up and carry out an effective athletic training program including detailed aspects of record keeping and facility upkeep. Recommends purchase of supplies and equipment for running of the training program. Recommend policies and procedures to be carried out for daily operations of the training room. Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of school site athletic emergency action plans. Evaluates existing plans annually with the Athletic Director and coaches. Education and Counseling, Instruct athletes about all aspects of their conditioning. Provide information on athletic training topics to coaches, faculty and the community. Provide ongoing instruction to assist trainers, and others, working in the training room. Counsel athletes on emotional problems, including drug abuse and personal or social problems. For serious psychological difficulties, the trainer makes proper professional referrals. Develops and implements concussion management and return to play plans based on knowledge of best practices. STARTING SALARY: $5,206.77 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours TBD)
